BEER is an
attractive fishing village with a sheltered beach and limestone cliffs, a real suntrap.
Fresh fish is sold on the beach. Pecorama provides gardens/play park and train ride,
besides model railway display. Beer Quarry Caves have interesting guided tours. |

|
| SEATON has an open beach, a
small supermarket and other useful shops. The Axe Yacht Club and the harbour are pictured
above. There is a tram which runs beside the river Axe which is well known for the variety
of birds to be seen in the estuary. |
COLYTON Explore this medieval village. The church with its lantern tower once used to guide ships up the Axe
estuary. Or simply wander the winding streets with old walled cottages.
AXMOUTH The Axe estuary provides an abundant feeding ground for all types of wading birds. It is
common to see twitchers whiling away their time in between tides. A riverside walk
leads to the XVI century thatched Harbour Inn and local Church.
HONITON Famous for its lace making and renowned for its antique shops, has an open market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Branscombe and nearby Beer are both fishing
villages. They were the haunts of the notorious smuggler Jack Rattenbury who often
outwitted the customs men by landing his booty on the quiet beaches around Branscombe and
Beer. |
